Especially here in sunny Florida, sunrooms can be appealing. If you’re already planning on making new additions to your home, you might consider adding a sunroom as well.
Here are a few things to consider as you decide whether to add a sunroom to your home:
- Consider the space: As with any home additions, a sunroom will take up space on your property. Will you have room on your property for such an addition and any other rooms you might want to add to your home? You might want to do some preliminary measurements to see if you have the space and what size sunroom might make the most sense. While you’re considering the space on your property, it will also be important to check with your HOA, if you have one.
- Consider your budget: Sunrooms can vary in pricing, depending on the size and materials you choose. You’ll want to be sure that you have enough in your budget to cover all the necessary costs and any surprise costs, should you run into any issues in the building process.
- Consider the environment: The whole point of sunrooms is to enjoy the natural sunlight and clear view of the outdoors. Before adding a sunroom to your home, you’ll want to consider the way it will be facing and the environment you’ll be looking out to any time you go to enjoy the space. If you only have space for a sunroom on the side of the house that faces the street, you may want to choose a different addition for your home, as sunrooms don’t offer much privacy if you choose to include a lot of glass and windows.
